SHABD-102 is a dispenser tank automation cabinet designed to measure, display, archive information about the level of foaming agent and provide signals about the remaining volume in real time to an automatic fire extinguishing control system. SHABD can be used with all types of metering tanks.

The SHABD installation allows to fulfill the requirements of clause 5.1.12 of GOST R 50800 (alarm about the emergency level in the tank) and clause 6.9.20 of SP 485.1311500.2020 (provision of AUP with a device for visual or automated control of the level of foaming agent in the tank with foaming agent).

The automation cabinet of the SHABD-202 dispenser tank allows you to control the level of foaming agent inside the tank and provide information:

  • in the form of analog signals of 4...20mA;
  • in the form of discrete signals about reaching a set level;
  • in digital format via RS-485 interface;
  • in digital format over the Ethernet interface.

Distinctive advantages

  • 7-inch color touch panel for operator input and display of information;
  • information is output to the automated control system (automatic process control system) of the upper level using various types of signals (relay, analog, digital), which allows you to connect the dispenser tank automation cabinet to any type equipment;
  • convenient placement of elements to facilitate installation and repair work;

Installation and Connection

Schematic diagram of the installation of SHABD on a metering tank

The power supply is connected using a copper cable VVGng-FRLS 3x1.5, or similar. The pressure sensors are connected using the KPSEng-FRLS 1x2x0.5 cable included in the delivery package. Reed sensors of flowmeters are connected directly to the automation cabinet (2 m long). With an increase in length, it is possible to use a control cable, for example, MKESHVNG(A)-LS 1x2x0.75, or a similar one with a terminal box connection.

Operation description

The level of the foaming agent during refueling is controlled indirectly, using a pressure sensor integrated into the foaming agent filling line and a flow meter with a pulse signal. Switching to the dosing mode occurs when a signal is given about the start of extinguishing from the fire control panel or from other devices. The signal voltage can be 24 DC or 220 V AC.

The following information is displayed on the touch screen located on the front panel of the cabinet:

  • current operating mode;
  • volume of foaming agent in liters, volume in percent;
  • the current date and time;
  • the LEDs display the output of the signals "tank full", "emergency reserve", "tank empty" for each tank. The actuation settings "emergency reserve" and "tank empty" in percentages can be set from the menu.

Information is output to the upper-level automated control system using various types of signals: relay, analog, digital.

Relay outputs

There are 3 relay outputs for each tank, allowing you to output signals:

  • "tank is full" when the level of foaming agent in the tank is more than 95%;
  • "working reserve" when the level of foaming agent is below 95% and above the emergency level (default is 60%);
  • "emergency reserve" when the level of the foaming agent reaches the emergency level (60% by default);
  • "the tank is empty" when the level of the foaming agent is reduced to the minimum level (by default, 20%).

Analog outputs

The analog outputs allow you to output the tank level in the format of 4...20 mA.

Digital outputs

Connection via digital interfaces allows you to receive all parameters from the automation cabinet, as well as change settings.

Connection is possible via Ethernet, RS-485.

SHABD maintains an archive of events. The date and time of the system start-up, the volume of the foaming agent and the flow rate are saved.

The password on the settings menu allows you to restrict unauthorized access to the SHABD-202 installations.

The device is calibrated once during installation and refueling, and requires no maintenance.

After the extinguishing system is activated, the operator will need to switch the device to the "refueling" mode during refueling of the foaming agent.

Operation ShABD-102

Preparing the tank for operation

The metering tank is calibrated for the first time. To do this, SHABD-202 must be switched to the "refueling" mode. Then you need to set two points on the graph, comparing the volume of the empty tank with the readings of the ADC (analog-to-digital converter) of the pressure sensor and the volume of the tank filled with a known amount of foaming agent with the corresponding pressure sensor reading. The pressure sensor is installed on the foam filling line. During calibration, the water supply lines from the dispenser must be closed, and the breathing valve is open from above. After refueling, the breathing valve must be closed and the foam filling line must be closed.

The sequence of actions is displayed on the screen in calibration mode.

Volume calculation algorithm, where:

V0- minimum tank volume (tank is empty);

Vmax – maximum tank volume (tank is full);

Vx is the current volume of foaming agent in the tank;

V1 is a certain known volume filled into the tank (for calibration);

A0 –ADC readings corresponding to the "tank empty" level;

Ax –current ADC readings.

During refueling, the dispenser tank is in standby mode.

Refueling mode

When the device is in the "refueling" mode, the display shows the current operating mode, the level of foaming agent in the dispenser tank in liters and percentages, the current date and time. The device calculates the tank volume based on the readings received from the pressure sensor.

Fire mode (dosing)

During a fire, a "fire" signal should be received at the gas station, after which the pumps are started./opening the water supply valves, opening the valves to the tank from the dispenser. The automation cabinet switches to the "dosing" mode, stores the volume of the foaming agent in the tank in memory. During extinguishing, the foaming agent consumption is calculated according to the flow meter readings. After the fire is over, it is necessary to close the valves for water supply to the tank and foaming agent supply, and remove the "Fire" signal. SHABD saves the consumption made during extinguishing to the archive and switches to the "standby" mode, showing the current volume of the foaming agent on the display. When the extinguishing system is activated again, the cabinet switches back to the "dosing" mode, continues to calculate the remaining foaming agent and creates the following record in the archive.

Gas station

The algorithm for refilling the foaming agent after the dosing system is activated:

1. Drain the water from the tank by turning on the water drain tap and opening the breathing valve.

2. Switch the DATABASE to the "refueling" mode. In this mode, the tank will receive information about the volume in the tank from the pressure sensor.

3. Refuel with a foaming agent.

4. Close the breathing valve and the water drain valve.

5. Switch the DATABASE to the "waiting" mode.

In the refueling mode, there are hints on the screen with a sequence of actions.

The dispenser tank is ready for operation.
